ROY'S SAXOPHONE LESSONS

Listen to this a lot!

Oct 20, 2026

Hi Roy!

Remember to anchor your left thumb on the black thumb rest and then lean into the octave key while keeping your thumb anchored.

Also remember to use the voicing that we discussed:
eeeeeeee for upper range

ooooooo for lower range

ASSIGNMENT TO PRACTICE AT HOME THIS WEEK

(you will find all materials in the grey box below)

1) St. Thomas - Now that you can play the head like Sonny Rollins go ahead and really dig in to the head as Tivon Pennicott plays it (beginning @ 1:20) on the other recording below.

2) pdf Getting Around in D Major

3) Remember to start getting used to having your neckstrap lower so your mouthpiece goes straight into your mouth (as opposed to your head raising up to grab the mouthpiece)

4) Open the orange Key Signature Review link and practice the sheets in the key of D Major
