NATHANAEL'S CLARINET LESSONS

Sept 18, 2023

Hi Nathanael!

This page contains a bunch of stuff for you to check out.

For the next lesson, your assignment is:

 - G scale and arpeggio

 - When The Saints Go Marching In

 - Those pages in your orange book where we left off

You may look ahead at the other exercises and tunes, but you don't have to practice these yet if you don't want to.

Exercises-

This sheet begins with the G scale and arpeggio (as you've already been practicing). Review the G scale and arpeggio. You may practice the F scale/arpeggio and Bb scale/arpeggio if you wish:
TUNES-
The pdf below is When the Saints Go Marching In (as I wrote on the music paper today, but this looks better). First, listen to the YouTube link of Louis Armstrong playing. Then practice the song yourself. When you are comfortable playing these notes, try to play along with the tracks below (use HEADPHONES for playing along with tracks, otherwise it's too difficult to hear the music):
When the Saints SLOW (cl)
00:00 / 01:51
When the Saints MEDIUM (cl)
00:00 / 01:28
When the Saints w- tambourine (cl)
00:00 / 01:03
Below is a recording of orchestra and choir performing Ode to Joy and also the pdf; when you are comfortable withe the notes, you can play along with the top track and then also try playing along with the bottom track (as a harmony/duet part):
Ode to Joy (top part, low clar)
00:00 / 01:18
Ode to Joy (bottom part, low clar)
00:00 / 01:19
Below is a recording of Ella Fitzgerald singing Blue Skies; again, the pdf is here and a couple of play-along tracks for you:
Blue Skies slow w- tambourine (cl)
00:00 / 01:26
Blue Skies fast w- tambourine (cl)
00:00 / 00:59
-Ye Olde Stuffe-
You don't have any old stuff yet! But I'll put old assignments here when you're done with them.
